Smart Weigh Multifunction Kitchen and Food Scale #Review #SmartWeigh

     Every once in a while I go on a new kick, you know what I mean?  Like, for a while I will paint and decoupage, then I'll go to scrapping, then photo shoots, then some other creative endeavor.  One thing I have never ventured into despite wanting to desperately is soap making.  Why?  Well... a few reasons.  First, it involves chemicals and my kids get into everything!  Second, the start-up cost wasn't something I could manage.  Between the oils, lye, and essential oils it just wasn't something I could do.  But now I am getting closer to that goal.  I've started slowly collecting essential oils and now I've got myself a scale for measuring out the components.

     It's the Smart Weigh Multifunction Kitchen and Food Scale.  It will weigh up to 11 pounds!  It's a small black and stainless steel scale that lays pretty low and doesn't take too much space.  I was a little surprised by how little room it took up.  It's great, especially for a crowded kitchen.

     It has a nice sized LCD screen that makes it easy to read the numbers.  The numbers are very clear.  One each side of the screen are buttons, one to switch between six weighing modes and one to minus the weight of a container.  The unit button allows you to choose between water and milk or oz, lbs, g, ml and fl 'oz.  It makes this a great scale for baking, when working with fluid and solids at the same time.

     When I set the scale up on my counter, I noticed that the reading was not 0.0, so I pressed the tare button to set it to zero.  After it was at zero, I decided to try weighing a small potato.  It weighed in at 3.5 oz.  But I was a bit perplexed when I removed the potato and the scale didn't go back to zero.  So I tried it again and the same thing happened, it still read .4 oz with nothing on it.  Now, maybe I have some more troubleshooting and learning to do, but I did find that the scale might not be completely accurate... unless kitchen scales normally do that.  What do you think?  Have you ever had this issue?
