#Ztrength Premium Jump Rope for Adults #Review

In case you haven't noticed yet, I'm kind of on a sportsy fitness kick lately.  Of course my main goal is to lose weight and get more fit.  I also want to help the kids with their sports.  There's just this whole other side to life that I've never been a part of that my kids love, and that I want to experience with them... the active side.  Even as a kid, I stayed in my room all the time.  But it's time to change all that.
So you should know right off that I have lost some weight, despite being super lazy.  Mostly from just a loss of appetite and cutting down on coffee big time.  I'm going from at minimum one large iced coffee a day to one every three days or so.  And even then, I don't drink the whole thing usually.  Because I did notice a relatively large weight gain when I started drinking several large coffees a day.  Weight just poured on, and that's the biggest reason for changing my drinking habits.
Now I just need to change my activity habits.  So recently I have gotten quite a few fitness products.  One that I'm really excited about is the Ztrength Premium Jump Rope for Adults.  To be clear, it's not really the kind you would use to play Miss Mary Mack or anything, though I suppose you could.  It's a rope for exercise, a speed rope, if you will.
The technique of jump roping for exercise can be a little difficult at first if you are used to regular jumping rope.  It also can be a bit hard on the ankles and ankle support is definitely something I would recommend.  But if you are looking for a quick heart rate jump, this would be a good place to start.  And if you are looking for ideas on things you can do with it, I'd start here:
The trick is to keep your arms bent at about a 45 degree angle towards the ground to both sides and move them as little as possible, using mainly your wrists to propel the rope over and under.  You jump with small hops over the rope as you try to gain speed.  There's lots of different ways to add difficulty to the routine as well.
The handles are made especially to avoid things like twisting and catching.  It's made with a pivot system that allows the rope to turn with ease.  It also has an adjustable length via the screw at the top of the handle.  You simply unscrew it and pull the rope to the length you need, then tighten the screw back up.  It's perfect for short people like me.  And when I can find me some good wire cutters, I'm gonna snip that baby and keep it short.  The rope, when stepped on with one foot should come to about armpit level, so I have quite a bit of extra.
My experience with this rope is a pretty good one.  I'm considerably terrible at it, but I'm getting better.  Practice makes perfect, right?  Although it is a "low-impact" workout, I felt like it was getting me winded pretty quickly.  Although really, it's no surprise because I haven't done traditional exercise since I tried that DVD a few years back.  I felt like the rope was a nice size thickness and a perfect weight to help fling itself forward.  The handles were a nice shape and fit well into my hands.  The wire rope didn't kink at all, and even when I tried sawing through it, it didn't cut.  So that is a really great quality I think.
Overall, I really like this rope and I am glad to have it around.  Do you jump rope for exercise?  Any tips for a beginner?
